experienced some dark moments in recent weeks.
subsequently it began affecting me creatively.
something that hasn't happened in a very long time.
couldn't start anything. couldn't finish anything.
became detached.

so i went surfing with an alien.
and it began happening again.

i'm better now.

how are you?

-----

i want to thank many of you that have inspired me to evolve.
you know who you are because i've told you so.
for those i haven't yet, eventually i will.

i love the circles (like voids) and the fibrous interconnections (like fungi and neurons), and the space... evocative.

Just one question, are these encaustic images ?
If they are, how do you get it so detailed in it. Any special tools? I've tried encaustic art a few years back, but never got anything as detailed like this.
But then again, maybe this is not encaustic afterall, just something that looks similar ?

uhm k.
first i had to look up what encaustic meant.
so that should pretty much answer your question. heh.
however, that looks like a pretty cool technique. i wonder how hard it would
be to find what i needed to try that.
anyway,...as for this particular piece,...it was done with inks and acetate.
and thanks so much for the comment and turning me on to this encaustic thing.

This image looked a bit like an encaustic painting where the wax is melted with a hot air gun. You get a similar effect, only it's hard to control the wax as it blows over the paper.

For encaustic images you need special paper which doesn't absorb the wax. Also an iron to melt the wax and transfer it to the paper. As said above, a hot air gun can be used to melt and blow the wax. There is also a heated stylus pen with different type of pen tips and stamps to add details. You can even use a marker to draw something on the paper (or use stamps) and then apply colored wax over it. Most inks will be absorbed by the paper so the wax doesn't stain the ink.

Anyway, there are lot's of on-line shops who sell all the stuff needed for encaustic images. Wax comes in a lot of base colors, and you can make your own by melting 2 colors and mixing them, just like paint.

Might be interesting to see what someone as talanted as you can do with encaustics :)

amazing. this looks painful. old wounds being closed & a rebirth of something
something like a scream
something like an embryo in the middle
yet all those orbs give it a sense of the universe
i can almost see it throbbing, pulsing, pushing back.

+glad to hear you're doing better.

+feeling alright. just got back from a soul vacation

Definitely my favourite piece of yours thus far. The intricacy is amazing. And I dont usually go for abstract art, because usually I tend to think it lacks skill, but the control and movement is amazing here. There are no superfluous lines or colours...everything seems to have a purpose, everything is so well put together. I wish I could give you more technical critique, but I cant, because I am just simply lost in awe...

This reminds me of something incredibly organic and living, of a liquid that has a mind and thoughts and can turn itself into these thoughts and images and give us an impression of its mind and the way it is thinking...I like how I can get lost in this one. How it swallows me up.

but looks nice :)
