so anyway,...
as i was getting close to 30K pageviews, i started thinking about what i could do for you guys,...in the way of a 'thank you'. you know?
at the time i was reading 'coraline' and 'wolves in the walls' by neil gaiman and dave mckean. also had just finished 'go ask alice' by anonymous and was really drowning in some cure,...'disintegration' mainly. i was pretty much in a strange state of mind. uhm,...make that stranger than usual. *smirk*
so, i got the idea to do this. a tribute to gaiman and mckean,...and a tribute to you guys.
i know i know,...some of you guys don't like to bring up the 'page view' thing. i understand.
but, it's nice to know someone's looking.
you know?
so thanks.
for looking.
loud love people.

sorry about the cruddy scan. it looks loads better in person. i promise. it's about 12 x 18. i'll be doing a local show down here in valley, al on valentine's day. it'll be there. so if you guys are 'passing through' about then (heh.), stop by. we'll go down to earl's place afterwards and play quarters.
Love the stylistic approach, man. It's got character and story-telling involvement in a simplistic way. You are thinking outside your box of realistic tactics, which impresses me.
I love Dave Mckean. He is the shit. Ever check out the Sandman series? It's like a collabo of mean-ass artists like Dave and Barron Storey---a former teacher of mine.
Wow, D! This is fantastic! I got both those books you mentioned for
Christmas. Loved them! And the illustrations in them are excellent.
You really did a great take on Coraline. Isn't that just the coolest cat?
This is awesome! I love the sky behind the house. And those furry rats
are outstanding! And as always, that running, somewhat helter-skelter
style of yours is is out of this world. Another one for the 'faves'. Great
work, D!
I'm not familiar with Coraline [although it seems it's some sort of a hit - being translated into Croatian and all...] so I can't ramble on "the idea". but I can say that I like the way you pulled it off. especially the semitransparence of the cat and the dripping watercolour effect in the bottom of the image.
We want to know what love means to you!
Get your creative juices flowing and design a movie poster for "Paper Heart" that focuses on the theme "What Does Love Mean to Me?".

I love the way the candle looks like it doesn't quite belong to that world and the way the girl, distorted, clings to the light.
Of course that's not what you're saying here but your style let's me relate in my own way.
Great shit, bro.
